MY FIRST YOUTUBE VIDEO: GET TO KNOW ME

Hey, y’all, this is Candice, and welcome my new channel.

Hey, y’all, I’m Candice, and welcome to my channel. I am new to YouTube and so starting my YouTube journey I decided why don’t I just go ahead and film a get to know me video.

So, that’s what we’re doing today. I love watching these videos when I first go to a YouTube channel because I get to really get a feel of the YouTuber and what their channel’s going to be about.

So, I’m Candice. I started off on Instagram as a content creator, and now I am here on YouTube, and I’m happy to be here. So, let’s jump right into the get to know me.

So I have some questions here. I did an Instagram story poll, and these are just some questions that I’m going to go ahead and answer today.

What’s your favorite food?

I don’t know if popcorn is an actual dish that I can consider, but I love popcorn. I probably have half a bag of popcorn every day. I love it so, so much. I used to be a really big sweets person, but I don’t know, I think I’ve been really just loving the salty snacks lately. So, I love popcorn, it’s my absolute favorite food.

Where do you live and what is the most favorite thing about the city that you live in?

So, I am originally from Dallas, but I currently live in San Antonio, it’s my home in Texas. I met my husband here, which we’ll get to him later. I call him Mr. Sweet Face. But, I live here in San Antonio, and I think one of the things that I love most about San Antonio is that it feels like a little big town.

So we’re about the size of Dallas, which is, if you’re familiar with the DFW Metroplex, it’s huge. Huge. There’s so many people there. It feels like a big city, everyone’s bustling around. But in San Antonio we have the same amount of people, and I feel like everyone feels like they know each other. Always run into someone that I know in San Antonio, or that knows my husband, or that are friends of friends, or we run into family. It’s just a really amazing community that we have here, and I love it. We don’t only just have The Alamo in San Antonio. There’s lots of cool things to do here, so I highly recommend to put it on your travel list.

Can we meet your family?

So, ta-da. This is our sweet dog, Luca. He is a one and a half-year-old miniature dachshund. He’s not so mini, but we thought he was going to be. And then this is Mr. Sweet Face, my husband, Cedrric, and I’ll let him introduce himself.

Hi guys, I’m Cedrric. If you’re new to the channel… Everybody’s new to the channel. But, I just wanted to say hello. Me and Luca are enjoying to be in front of the camera and we’re glad to be here.

Okay. And then, what do you do for work?

So I am a… Now I am a professional poker player.

What did you used to do?

I used to be a Vice President of a financial services company.

Okay, so we’re both on this content creation journey together. Cedrric also has a YouTube channel, it’s Poker Traveler. If you’re into poker and you want to follow him there, otherwise he’s just the Mr. Sweet Face on my channel.

Okay, so we’re back. They’ve gone. You’ve met Mr. Sweet Face. You’ve met Luca bear. Those are my two favorite pride joys in this entire world. And you’ll be seeing them a lot here on this channel.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

Both my husband and myself are both extroverts. We can almost outtalk each other when we’re in a setting. Going out and meeting people is one of my favorite things to do, which is another reason why I wanted to be here on YouTube with everyone, because I’m a bit of a chatter bug. I just love talking. I love meeting new people. It’s one of my favorite things. I know some, so many people have such anxiety over it, but I love, love, love meeting strangers. I know it’s weird.

What do you do for work?

So I am a full-time content creator. I graduated from UTSA, but I met Cedrric at St. Mary’s University. So I graduated with a human resources degree and I became a full-time content creator, I want to say, a little over a year ago. After we got married, I started sharing my life online because I wanted to… Well, everyone else in my friend zone was having children. I was just kind of newly married. And I was the youngest of our friend group. So we weren’t kind of at that place in life where we were even thinking about that. And so I just decided to build this huge community of people that I wanted to connect with. I wanted to share my Target run. I wanted to share, what I was wearing. I am a larger bodied person. So I live in a plus size body. And I wanted to share things that I purchased because I knew that they weren’t readily available to everyone. And this was four years back, obviously, plus size clothing has come a long way, which we’ll obviously talk about here on my platform.

But that’s what I did. I wanted to share my life and I wanted to connect with others because I was feeling lonely. So I created a space and now I get to do that full time with all of you out there.

Where did you go to school?

I just covered that. Sorry. I went to UTSA. I graduated from there, but I met Cedrric at St. Mary’s University, which are two universities here in San Antonio, Texas.

What have you been binge watching lately?

So I don’t know if y’all love Euphoria. I know it’s so polarizing. So many people are either like, “Oh my God, I love it. Oh my God. It’s the worst.” I think Zendaya plays an amazing character. I think all the characters on Euphoria are amazing, but I’ve been binge watching that lately and then anything on Netflix. Really? I am a like pro binge watcher. I don’t know if y’all do this, but I saw this meme the other day that was like, “Don’t tell me to watch a 10 hour video. But if you tell me to watch a season, a new season came out my favorite series. I’m going to watch it in one night.” And that’s totally me. I love, love, love, binge watching series.

Oh, I just finished Ted Lasso too. Oh, that was such a good one. That’s another really good one that I cannot recommend enough. It talks a lot about mental health and I didn’t think that it was going to, and I absolutely love it. So those are the two of my favorites lately, but really? I mean, give me a season and I’ll binge to watch it.

What’s my favorite all time movie?

I don’t know if I would look like I love mob movies, but I am obsessed with mob movies. Goodfellas is probably my favorite. Casino’s a second favorite. And then Godfather III would be right behind that. But of course I love a romcom as much as the next person, but I love, love, love, mob movies! So I don’t know what it is. I feel like maybe it’s because I’m transported to a time or I don’t know. I don’t know, but I love them and yeah, that’s like a guilty pleasure of mine.

What is your channel going to be about?

So my channel’s going to be about plus size, fashion, beauty, and any sort of lifestyle bits. On my Instagram I cover DIY as well and home stuff because we have Airbnbs. And so I do a lot of remodeling. We like to move into our homes and then remodel them. Let me know if you want to know a little bit more about that. And the comment section below, it’s kind of something that we just fell into and I’ve been really jazzed about. But you can expect everyday kind of life from me. I do like to talk about plus size fashion. I like to talk about luxury fashion, and I like to talk about any sort of lifestyle bits. So maybe you’ll come to Target with me, like I said before, or we’ll go to HomeGoods and I’ll show you what I picked up from there. Or I’ll talk about my favorite, Amazon finds, all of those things you can certainly find here on this channel.

Tell me about your style.

So I have a very colorful and feminine style. So like this, this is actually a dress that I’m wearing. It’s like a periwinkle floral with white. I have like a pink and a bright blue blazer back there, this colorful bag back here. I love adding pops of color and make, can get very feminine, very whimsical in my everyday dress. I obviously love basics and everyday basics like that, but that’s my style. That’s what you’ll expect is a very colorful, whimsical and feminine style.

Why should someone subscribe to your channel?

Well, if you’re interested in any one of those things, what I like to say to people is that even though you may not have the same style as I do, you can certainly grab inspiration from a lot of people’s different styles. So for me, even though I’m colorful, feminine, and whimsical are the three kind of adjectives that I would describe my style. I definitely don’t think that you have to be that same person to want to subscribe or want to connect with me. Maybe like when I go to Target or maybe you like my Amazon finds that I have all of those things. Maybe you might like… I feel like I like different YouTubers for different reasons.
