A FASHION, LIFESTYLE, AND DIY BLOG

Early Morning

Our proposal story is so romantic….or so I think. I’ll let you be the judge of that. On October 19th, 2013, we woke up early to a full day of activities. We were both so excited because we had found a huge neighborhood garage sale. We love antiquing and finding rummage and estate sales that we can get lost in. This one was special because there was a map! It was our first neighborhood sale that had been organized enough to have a map! We picked and rummaged through over 40 houses of old treasures. There were even neighborhood kids selling lemonade and treats! I remember feeling such a rush from all the cool pieces of history I was finding and all morning I just kept saying how perfect the morning seemed.

Late Afternoon

We stayed out so late we had to hurry back home to get both of our dogs dressed to go to their yearly adopter’s reunion. At the time, we had two miniature dachshunds named Princess and Max. We adopted Princess and Max from a dachshund rescue group, and every year the rescue group would have a reunion. Although Princess and Max weren’t very social, we did like to try to get them out and about to hang out with other dogs. So, off the four of us went. We only stayed about an hour. Our dogs were older, so that’s really all we could hope for on any given day from them. They liked lots of snuggle time, lots of nap time, but could really pass on the big crowd time.

Showtime

Later that evening we were going to the Michael Bublé concert. He’s one of our favorite artists, and this would have been our second time seeing him in concert. I hurried to get dressed and kept asking Cedrric if I looked okay. He kept telling me that I looked beautiful and he’s always been so sweet, but secretly I felt like a total mess! I kept fidgeting with my hair and adjusting my dress. We got to the concert, and to my surprise, we had really good tickets. We had purchased them the day they released, months in advance, so I didn’t remember how close we would be sitting. We were right on the ground floor, right in the thick of it. I was so excited! I love music and concerts, and it really felt like I was at a huge concert venue because we were sitting so close! The energy was electric! Cedrric kept asking what my favorite song was, and I was just so happy to be at the concert that I screamed “all of them!” All the while, still thinking that this had been the very best day.

About half way thru the concert, Michael Bublé covered “All You Need is Love” by the Beatles. Whether you’re a fan of the movie Love Actually, or a fan of the Beatles, you’ll recognize the song. I’m actually a fan of both, but a HUGE Beatles fan! The background of the stage was lit up like a rainbow and there were big crepe paper confetti hearts falling from the ceiling. I looked up and closed my eyes, and just smiled in the moment. My entire body felt warm and I felt so grateful, to be enjoying this moment with someone I cared so deeply about. When I opened my eyes and looked down, I saw that Cedrric had squeezed his 6-foot frame in between our row and the next and was down on one knee. He grabbed my hand, pulled me towards him, whispered in my ear, and asked me to forever.

It really was the perfect day. <3- Candice
